It is encouraging to see that the residents of Alice Springs are still working hard to make changes to their water use and have achieved big water savings as a result.

The new edition of the Alice Water Smart Guide is now available. Originally developed by the community for the community through the Alice Water Smart consortium, the Guide outlines the Top Six Actions for the greatest impact on water savings yet still allows us to maintain our great Alice lifestyle.

  1. Use efficient irrigation and adjust water timers seasonally
  2. Water between 8pm and 8am
  3. Set your water schedule
  4. Find hidden leaks – conduct the hidden leak test
  5. Fix leaks quickly
  6. Learn and pass on our skills to be water smart

This new edition of the Guide still contains the Top Six Actions however now has even more useful information, uniquely tailored to suit the Alice Springs climate. It includes irrigation schedules, tips on how to find and fix leaks and the convenient Alice Springs Garden Water Planner.
